KOLKATA - The Calcutta High Court Monday told former Team India skipper Sourav Ganguly to pay Rs.43.75 lakh for the land allotted to him by the West Bengal government to set up a school.
A division bench of Chief Justice M.S Shah and Justice P.C Ghose asked Ganguly to pay the amount within the next six weeks.
The bench also pointed out if Ganguly failed to make the payment within the stipulated time, the lease agreement might also get terminated.
A public interest litigation (PIL) was filed in the high court in October last year protesting the procedure adopted in allotting the plot to Ganguly.
The cricketer was earlier given a plot at BF-158 but later he was allotted a 62-cotta (approximately 1.02 acre) plot at CA block to promote the Wissen International School.
