Arenas arrives at Md. jail to begin gun sentence
ROCKVILLE, Md. — NBA star Gilbert Arenas has arrived at a Maryland jail to begin his sentence for bringing guns into the Washington Wizards’ locker room.
Arthur Wallenstein, the corrections director for Montgomery County, said Arenas arrived at the Montgomery County Detention Center in the Washington suburb of Rockville, Md., Friday at 7:40 p.m.
Arenas was sentenced last month to 30 days in a halfway house for bringing guns into the Wizards locker room. Corrections officials in Montgomery County, Md., agreed to let him serve his sentence there, as part of an agreement with the U.S. Bureau of Prisons.
Arenas must spend two days in jail for medical screening and classification before being transferred to the halfway house.
