RANCHI - A lawyer fighting corruption cases against former Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda and some bureaucrats has sought security from the state government as a precautionary measure.
The request has been made by Rajiv Kumar, the lawyer of Durga Oraon who filed a public suit in the Jharkhand High Court in 2008 seeking a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the assets of Koda and six former ministers. Apart from this case, Kumar is also involved in about six public suits related to various scams.
“I have given a written request to Director General of Police Neyaz Ahmad and others seeking security guards,” Kumar told IANS Saturday.
“I have sought security as a precautionary measure,” said Kumar.
The Ranchi police will soon take a decision on providing security to him.
“A meeting has been convened on April 14 regarding a request letter from a lawyer seeking security guards. The meeting will review the security threat and take a decision on the request,” a police officer said.
Kumar’s other suits relate to a bitumen scam, a land scam allegedly involving several Indian Administrative Service and Indian Police Service officers and matters involving two secretary-level officials.
