Man accused of killing Pa. officer held for trial
PITTSBURGH — A man accused of killing a suburban Pittsburgh police officer has been ordered to stand trial on two homicide counts.
A homicide detective testified Friday that 32-year-old Ronald Robinson confessed to shooting 32-year-old Penn Hills Officer Michael Crawshaw, 32, and 40-year-old Danyal Morton on Dec. 6.
Detective Lawrence Carpico says Robinson told his mother about the shootings and that she told police what he said. Carpico says Robinson confessed after police played him a recording of her statement.
Police say Robinson, of Pittsburgh, shot Morton over a $500 drug debt. Crawshaw was the first to respond to a 911 call and police say Robinson shot Crawshaw as he waited for backup.
