Ohio serial killer suspect due in court
CLEVELAND — A registered sex offender charged with killing 11 women and hiding their bodies around his home is due in court in Cleveland with his new attorneys.
A two-lawyer legal team will defend 50-year-old Anthony Sowell (SOH’-wehl) on aggravated murder charges that could lead to a death sentence.
Wednesday’s pretrial hearing could focus on a defense request for a gag order barring attorneys and police from publicly commenting on the emotionally charged case. Prosecutors expect Sowell to be in court.
Last week Sowell pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity to all charges.
