Ohio pediatrician found guilty of more charges

HAMILTON, Ohio — A southwest Ohio pediatrician convicted of sex crimes involving former patients has been found guilty of drug trafficking and money laundering charges.

Prosecutors say Dr. Mark Blankenburg of Hamilton gave patients money and prescription drugs to keep them quiet about molesting them. A common pleas judge convicted the 53-year-old doctor Thursday of six counts and acquitted him of 19 others.

During a trial this month, four men testified the doctor molested or performed sex acts on them when they were teenagers. Defense attorneys said the charges are false and his accusers extorted money and drugs from him.

Blankenburg’s sentencing date has not yet been set.

Blankenburg’s twin brother, Dr. Scott Blankenburg, also faces charges and is to go on trial in April.
