NEW DELHI - The Supreme Court Friday asked the central government what was the difficulty in making public the names of people who have stashed away huge amount of money in a German bank.

The observation from the apex court bench of Justice B. Sudarshan Reddy and Justice S.S. Nijjar came in the wake of reluctance on the part of the central government to make public the list of people given by the German government.

Solicitor General Gopal Subramanium sought the adjournment of the hearing, saying he needed to take instructions from the government.

The matter will come up for hearing Wednesday.
