NEW DELHI - The Supreme Court reacting to a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) which said that an unelected person should not be made a chief minister, on Monday issued notices to Jharkhand Governor M O H Farooq, Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda and former state chief Shibu Soren.

The PIL filed in the apex court says Arjun Munda and his predecessor Shibu Soren were made Chief Ministers without being elected to the assembly.

These appointments were made as per a constitutional provision, which says that a person can stay a minister for six months without being elected.

The petitioner has pointed out that this prerequisite is being misused in Jharkhand. (ANI)
