BEIJING - China plans to ban smoking on public transport in its cities, Xinhua reported.

The Cabinet Friday made a draft law public to solicit people’s opinion in this regard.

Begging, drinking alcohol and carrying pets in buses and subway trains will also be banned.

The draft also outlines rules on construction, operation and safety of the urban public transportation system.

It also calls for increasing spending for developing the transportation system in the urban areas.
