BEIJING - Live broadcasts of the Nobel Prize award ceremony - which would have included presentation of an award to jailed Chinese dissident Liu Xiaobo - was blocked Friday in China.

The blackout extended to foreign broadcasters such as CNN and BBC. An internet feed from Oslo on the Nobel Foundation’s website was also blocked.

The measures came on top of already heightened censoring in advance of the controversial award to Liu.
