NEW DELHI - Almost five decades after its creation, the Copyright Board\’s Delhi office, which was facing problems of paucity of space and manpower, has got a premises of its own, the Delhi High Court was informed Wednesday.

The central government told the court that the board, a quasi-judicial body constituted in 1958 for adjudicating disputes pertaining to copyright registration, has been given office space in Jeevan Deep building near Connaught Place.

After hearing the central government\’s submission, a division bench of acting Chief Justice Madan B. Lokur and Justice Mukta Gupta said that adequate manpower should also be provided to it. The employees should be on regular rolls, the court said.

The central government said it will further look into the matter and give a reply soon.

The court last week directed the government to provide infrastructure to the board. The direction came on a petition of the board highlighting problems it faced due to lack of infrastructure.

“The board does not have its own employees and borrows most of its staff on a part-time basis from the copyright office,” the board\’s counsel argued.
