Summary Box: Class-action suits against Toyota

WHAT’S HAPPENING: Toyota owners claiming that massive safety recalls are causing the value of their vehicles to plummet have filed at least 89 class-action lawsuits that could cost the Japanese auto giant $3 billion or more.

WHY THEY’RE SUING: Owners say Toyota concealed safety problems from buyers. They note Kelley Blue Book’s decision this month to lower the resale value of recalled Toyotas an average of 3.5 percent.

WHAT’S NEXT: On March 25, a panel of federal judges will consider whether to consolidate the class-action lawsuits into a single jurisdiction.

I took my 07 Camry in for service on 6/29 for the first time since the recall. In my list of things I asked to be checked I told them I had not only rec’d recall notices but they will notice the driverside floormat was removed and this was because once last summer the gas peddle had stuck when we were on long trip. Twice during the 2 days Gullo Toyota had my vehicle for service I reminded them to check the recall notices with messages left on voicemail. I picked up my car last night and asked again about the recall notices the service tech then looked them up said there were 2 and no they had not checked them. I can not be without my vehicle any longer my ride has already left but you would think that after millions in lawsuits and all the money for the commercials of how much Toyota cares about saftey they would make some effort to check these vehicles that are sitting with them for 2 days for service.

Gentlemen,
I bought a 2009 Toyota last March, and currently have 4,500 miles on this auto. My Corolla was one of the ones recalled, and the gas pedal has been adjusted. However, I feel that there are problems with my power steering (it seems to go in and out of power steering while I drive this car), and I have another appointment on March 18 at the dealership. I would like return this car to the dealership, and have Toyota refund any monies I have spent on this vehicle. They knowingly sold me a defective product, as boxes of information recently released shows. What do I do next to protect my investment in the automobile. Its value seems to continue to drop as the news gets worse. Thank you.
